Diabetic Retinopathy
Diabetic retinopathy is a complication of diabetes that weakens the blood vessels that supply nourishment to the retina.
In its advanced stages, the disease can cause blurred or cloudy vision,
floaters, blind spots and, eventually, blindness. This damage is
irreversible.
For the diabetic patient, it is imperative that good control of blood sugar levels be maintained. It is just as important that the patient receive regular eye examinations.
