Computer eye strain
Check these basics:
- Be sure that your chair allows you to sit at a proper angle and distance from the computer terminal. The top of the screen should be just below eye level, with the distance being 14-20 inches from your eyes.
- Use indirect lighting. Be sure that bright sources of light such as direct sunlight are minimized through the use of window blinds. The screen should be 3-4 times brighter than the light in the room.
- Take short breaks often when using the computer to allow your eyes to focus on other objects at varying distances.
- Place your reference material close to your screen and within the same viewing distance to keep from making large head and eye movements.
- Blink often to insure that your eyes remain lubricated. Use artificial tears as necessary.
