Our Mission

The mission of the Boozman-Hof Regional Eye Clinic is to present Christ to our patients and employees by providing the highest quality, comprehensive eye care and ethical business practices.

Please note that Boozman-Hof is not an emergency-care clinic.  If you feel you have a medical emergency, please call 911 for assistance.

What is the difference between an ophthalmologist and an optometrist?

Ophthalmologists and optometrists are eye doctors. They can both do eye exams, as well as diagnose and treat eye disease.

Optometrists (O.D.s) went to school specifically to become eye doctors. They have been trained and licensed to perform eye exams and treat routine eye disease. They do not perform eye surgery.

Ophthalmologists are medical doctors (M.D.s) or doctors of osteopathy (D.O.s). They went to medical school and were trained and licensed to diagnose and treat all bodily diseases (not just the eyes). They then took additional training in eye care and became eye specialists. Ophthalmologists are trained to treat very complicated eye disease and can perform laser and other forms of eye surgery.

No matter whom you see at Boozman-Hof -- O.D., M.D., or D.O. -- you will receive the same quality eye exam. If you require special care or surgery, you will, of course, be referred to the appropriate sub-specialist.
