   Surgery and Laser CenterThe BoozmanHof Eye Surgery and Laser Center opened on April 1, 1996, as the first ophthalmic surgery center in northwest Arkansas. From its very beginning, this facility has provided the finest in ophthalmic surgical care available. The center has been recognized as a Center of Excellence by industry, and has been featured in numerous national publications as one of the premiere facilities of its kind. Patients often comment that after coming through a surgical procedure at the center, they have never had such a positive and pleasant surgical experience.Since its inception, over 40,000 patients and more than 25,000 cataract procedures have been performed at the center. A wide range of surgeries is provided to our patients. Cutting-edge refractive procedures such as LASEK and ICL (implantable collamer lens) are offered. Tertiary corneal and conjunctival procedures such as pterygium excision, conjunctival and amniotic membrane grafting, full-thickness corneal transplantation (PKP), endothelial keratoplasty (DSEK) and stem cell transplantation are also performed. Numerous oculoplastic and laser procedures are also available. In the area of glaucoma, the BoozmanHof Eye Surgery and Laser Center is truly a world leader in its ability to provide the best available surgical care to our patients. We not only provide standard glaucoma operations such as trabeculectomy (filtration surgery) and tube shunt surgery, but also numerous minimially invasive glaucoma surgeries. These recent advances in glaucoma surgery provide a much more rapid postoperative recovery and improved safety profile for glaucoma patients. The center is one of only a few premiere institutions in the entire country to provide Trabectome surgery, canaloplasty and Ex-PRESS mini-shunt glaucoma surgery. In 2009, the center became the first facility in the United States to offer patients the CyPass suprachoroidal shunt as part of an investigational FDA clinical trial. The center is especially renown for its quality assurance programs. Throughout its history, its comprehensive system of infection prophylaxis has resulted in one of the lowest infection and endophthalmitis rates in the world after cataract surgery. Numerous manuscripts and articles have been published, and courses taught at various international meetings regarding this system. The reason for the center's amazing success is largely due to the high quality individuals on the team. The center has one of the finest staff of dedicated registered nurses that can be found anywhere, and they take great pride in conscientious, quality care.
